Ms. Sock developed and honed her professional skills as a hotel, casino/resort and entertainment industry executive. Karen has served in a variety of capacities of increasing responsibility over a long and varied career at major hotel and casino gaming companies. She has excelled in numerous key executive operations positions including Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager at Grand Casinos, Inc., Executive Vice President and General Manager, Caesars Entertainment, Inc., and Senior Vice President and General Manager at Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. She has effectively managed hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenues and associated profits. Karen has provided inspirational leadership to staffs of more than twenty eight hundred employees and has mentored countless staffers to successfully achieve their professional and personal growth goals.
Ms. Sock has passion for volunteerism and giving back to the community in which she lives and works. In 2007 she was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour to the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service. She serves on the board and executive committee of the United Way of South Mississippi where she served the 2009 Campaign Chairwoman. Karen is the recipient of the 2009 United States, Presidential Award for Volunteer Service. She also serves on the board and executive committee of the Gulf Coast Business Council and the John L. Knight Foundation, Community Impact Advisory Board.
Ms. Sock has received numerous awards and recognition for her many contributions to the business and non-profit communities. She is a Cleveland, Ohio native, is happily married with one adult daughter and currently resides in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Leon A. Walker is Vice President of Business Development for Sock Enterprises Incorporated. He has worked as a public and private sector business professional and he is also a retired United States naval officer. Over his varied career, he served as President and CEO of Walker Air Traffic Services Incorporated, followed by a brief tenure at Pensacola Regional Airport. He was then named Operations Director of the commercial seaport at Pensacola, Florida and was ultimately named the Executive Director of the Port of Pensacola.
His broad and varied professional and civic affiliations include the following: Chairman - Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce International Trade and Business Development Task Force, American Association of Airport Executives, American Association of Port Authorities, Florida Ports Council, State of Florida Seaport Security Committee, Leadership Pensacola - 2000, Pensacola Leadership Academy – 2003, Chairman - City of Pensacola United Way Campaign (2001), Board of Directors, Northwest Florida Arts Council, Board of Directors, Belmont Arts Center.
He is also a published writer of various forms of creative literature as well as social and political commentaries. His first collection of poetry and short stories entitled “Work Wonders” was published in September 2009 and a second, entitled “Life Lines” was published in October 2010.
Mr. Walker is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida having earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics.
He is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and he currently resides in Northwest Florida.
